Most junk removal companies, us included, can take the overwhelming majority of what's cluttering up a home or property. But there's a short list of things that need to go somewhere else — not because we don't want to help, but because certain materials require special handling by law.

What typically can't go in a standard junk removal load

• Hazardous chemicals — old paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals
• Certain electronics with hazardous components — some older CRT TVs and specific batteries
• Medical waste
• Asbestos-containing materials — these need certified abatement, not general hauling
• Ammunition and explosives

Where these actually go

Pinellas County has household hazardous waste collection programs specifically for items like old paint and chemicals — worth checking their schedule if you've got a stockpile of these in the garage. Electronics with hazardous components usually have dedicated e-waste recycling drop-off points.
